Gene Dinkins, Jr., PLS

Vice President

Gene Dinkins, Jr., is a Vice President of Cox and Dinkins and the lead professional in the surveying division. He is responsible for operational management, resource allocation, and quality control of survey operations within the firm. He is also the central liaison between the surveying and engineering departments, ensuring that clients’ expectations are met with quality service time-efficiently.

Gene is an active community volunteer, donating his time and expertise to numerous boards and commissions. He recently finished his term as Chair of the City of Columbia Board of Zoning Appeals. Previously, Gene served as Vice Chairman and member of the City of Columbia Board of Zoning Appeals, Vice Chairman and member of the City of Columbia Planning Commission, and member of the City of Columbia’s Code Enforcement Task Force Board. He is a founding member and former Congaree Riverkeeper Vice Chairman, and Heathwood Hall’s assistant B-squad football coach. Gene and his wife, Kathryn’s, proudest accomplishment is raising their two daughters, Parker and Katie.

Gene has over 30 years of experience in surveying, field operations, computation, and mapping. He is a Professional Land Surveyor in South Carolina, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Certified Erosion Protection and Sediment Control Inspector. Gene graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
