B.L Harbert International engaged Cox and Dinkins to perform civil engineering and surveying services for Basic Training Complex 3 Phase I, a design-build project off Golden Arrow Rd., Ft. Jackson, SC. The project consists of a 65,000-square-foot, three-story BCOF. The building is oriented on a 35-acre site to create a campus layout for two additional future identical buildings, which will all surround training areas. The design consists of an “L” shaped building housing 228 soldiers. It comprises classroom areas, two-story barracks, housing sleeping areas, latrines, drill instructor areas, stairs and mechanical and electrical spaces, and a first-level covered training area.
The completed complex will contain 6 Barracks/Company Ops. Facilities, a Battalion HQ, a ¼-mile running track, all site work & infrastructure for the entire complex. All utilities for future facilities, including 2000 LF of offsite sanitary sewer and 2400 LF of offsite water main, were designed and constructed in the initial phase.
